I found this place after some bad dental experiences, and truly I am blessed to have found Dr.Nelson. He is kind honest, and makes sure you are comfortable. His bedside manner is understanding and patient, and he took care of my problems. This is the only dental place I have ever left with zero pain after a root canal, filing or tooth extraction. I always heal very nicely after any of his work. Very happy to recommend this place to everyone.

Could not recommend here more!! I am an autistic adult who had never had the opportunity to go to the dentist prior, and this office genuinely squashed all the fear I had held. Dr. Nelson is incredibly kind and is more than willing to explain things to you as they happen. This office is very LGBTQ* friendly, their paper forms are very thorough and thoughtful, and I could not sing higher praises.

I was terrified of getting my wisdom teeth taken out, the procedure itself took less than ten minutes, and I left telling Dr. Nelson how cool and awesome he was for helping me.

Thank you for letting me feel seen and heard, new things and autism don’t usually work out well, you made me feel like I wasn’t stupid for being different.

I came to Dr. Nelson’s office with a lot of dental anxiety. Years of bad experiences had made even scheduling an appointment feel like a nightmare. I’d neglected my dental health for longer than I should have and was desperate to find someone I could trust. After seeing glowing recommendations in a Facebook group, I decided to give Dr. Nelson a try, and every single review was spot on.

Dr. Nelson didn’t just fix my teeth, he *saved* my smile (I refused to smile or eat in front of people without covering my mouth sometimes because of how bad they were, and was even worried they couldn't be fixed and i may need fake teeth or God knows what..). He made my teeth look brand new, and the quality of work was absolutely incredible.
From the very first call, the care and attention were obvious. I mentioned my dental anxiety, and they remembered that detail without me needing to repeat it. During my appointment, the team checked in with me constantly. First every few seconds, then every few minutes, just to make sure I was okay.

The staff is truly something special. They’re warm, patient, and genuinely family-oriented (in fact, the first two assistants I met were sisters, both as sweet and kind as can be!). The entire office feels more like visiting friends than going to the dentist.

Yes, sometimes there’s a bit of a wait to get in, but when a place is this good, it’s no surprise they’re in high demand. And to top it all off, when I had a minor issue with a crown/filling, they got me back in *the very next day* for an adjustment and didn’t stop until everything felt perfect, even with me being a little picky.

Thanks to Dr. Nelson and his amazing team, not only is my anxiety gone! I actually *look forward* to coming in. I can’t even describe how grateful I am. This office is a rare gem in every possible way!!

Dr. Nelson and the e tire staff are wonderful. After three years with them I no longer need any gas or medication to visit. I had a cleaning today and they found a small cavity. Dr Nelson and his team were truly exceptional! For background, I was visiting Winston-Salem from Michigan for a conference when, in the middle of the night, I had an unexpected oral emergency. Dr. Nelson’s team set up an appointment within 30 minutes of me calling their office. From the minute I arrived the epitome of Southern Hospitality was extended! EVERYONE was extremely nice and knowledgeable. Dr. Nelson was extremely kind and comforting, allaying even the most extreme “white-coat syndrome”. Dr. Nelson quickly endeavored to perform the necessary procedure so that I was not in any discomfort and extended his politeness to actually tell me that I did a great job. Of course it was his skilled hands that did all the work (and of course his technician). Bottom line, I would actively seek out Dr. Nelson for any dental issues. You will be glad you did!

I highly recommend Benton & Nelson Dentistry. I have anxiety issues, and an over-active gag reflex, and recently needed some work done on my back teeth. I chose to be sedated, and the experience was great ...well, as much as I can remember! Dr. Nelson was extremely informative, and professional, and his team monitored me safely throughout the procedure. As uncomfortable as I am with going to any dentist, my experience with Dr. Nelson, and his team and office staff has been amazing!

I haven’t been to the dentist in a while. I’ve got such a bad history of terrible anxiety, because other dentist kept working even though I could feel everything with tears running down my cheek! I’ve actually put off going to the dentist because I’ve never been anywhere that truly took care of me so I only really went when I had a problem. I put my kids dental care above my own. Now, I have a lot of work to get my smile back. I say all this because it’s truly hard to find a dentist that sits down, talks to you, gives you all his/her attention, doesn’t make you feel bad/guilty about it, is understanding but educates you about your options, listens to your concerns, gives you options as well as a plan, and does work with you and your insurance to help in being able to afford the care your teeth need so you can get that smile back! He offers sedation dentistry as little or as much as needed for even simple filings. Good dentists are needles in a haystack, so when you find one as good as he is, you will be comforted to know you found the right one! Even down to the office staff and dental hygienist were so polite, patient and kind. I’m not scared or anxious anymore about going to the dentist.

I will start off by saying that I have had a really strong fear of dentists since I was a child and it never got any better as I got older. I had to take medication just to have my teeth cleaned. Until I found [Benton and Nelson]. Their staff is the best, they are so sweet and so very kind. They make you feel so comfortable and welcome. They explain every step of the way what they are going to do and when they are going to start. I saw Dr. Nelson and he is awesome, he takes his time going over your x-rays and explains what he sees. Then he examines you and gives you his recommendations. I have been to this office a couple of times and would recommend them to anyone..

My daughter has a deep-rooted fear of going to the dentist. We are so happy to have found Dr. Nelson! He and his staff are patient, supportive and caring. My daughter (she's a young adult) needed some fillings and opted to have sedation in order to minimize her anxiety and fear and the whole process was easy and painless. I am so grateful to Dr. Nelson for offering sedation dentistry because otherwise my daughter would likely not have gotten the cavities filled which would have led to even greater problems. If you are fearful or anxious about going to the dentist you MUST go see Dr. Nelson. You do not need to go the sedation route (and most patients probably don't) but it's nice to know this is an option for those with extreme anxieties.

My recent office visit with Dr. Blake Nelson was great as always. He sees my 10 yr old daughter as well and she is completely comfortable with him and his staff. As a person with extremely sensitive teeth, I dread going to the dentist. It is always painful. I heard good things about Dr Nelson and decided to give him a try. Glad I did!

The hygienist was gentle yet thorough and even offered warm water to rinse with. She used a special toothpaste that left my teeth feeling clean and kept taking breaks to make sure I was ok. I was on the end of my chair the whole time waiting for "the zing" and it never happened.

They measured the amount of recession and bone loss as a baseline for future visits. Dr Nelson came in and looked at everything and asked if I had any questions or concerns. He took time to explain things and asked numerous times if he was explaining things well. It feels like a very "relational vs transactional" office.

The best experience I’ve ever had with a dentist was with Dr. Nelson! My father, a home-bound, 98 yr old WWII vet, desperately needed his dentures adjusted and Dr.Nelson, went over and above board in helping us out.
